The history of Arbëreshë (Italo-Albanian) begins in Albania, their land of origin. The
Skipetarë (Albanians of Albania) have a source that is lost in time, partly because of the lack of a written tradition, dating back only two centuries ago.
The same can be said of their languages.
Some scholars agree that the Albanian language has originated from the Indo-European, but disagree about its evolution. Some say that the Albanian language derives from the language of the Thracians, who was influenced by other language of the Illyrians. The extraordinary fact is that none of today's Indo-European languages \u200b\u200bhave affinities with the Albanians. Peter
Tassini, Ambassador of the Republic of Venice, in 1455 stated:
"The Skipetarë are a people which preserves the traditions of their ancestors, a people proud and trimmed of freedom."
Albanians have always been a stable and conservative people and managed to survive thanks to the constellation bank of Albania, surrounded by high mountain ranges more than two thousand meters.
