Letter to Environment Minister Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio Hon

Distinguished Hon Minister Pecoraro Scanio,

as reported to the Minister Rutelli is valuable work that the central government to promote an awareness campaign what "MaratonArte" to save certain cultural, or abandoned to their fate.

Unfortunately, this commitment is not equally concerned with matters affecting the Valley of the Temples and in particular the assumption that - in the adjoining city of Porto Empedocles, close to a mystical subject to landscape - can be located a regasification plant.

In a place already partially compromised by industrial settlements in the area of \u200b\u200bPorto Empedocles, the towers of cement and Enel have seriously changed the "landscape."

Professor Argan defined, if we are right, the tolli present in the territory close to Agrigento and the Valley "building crime."

There is a widespread belief that the "sensitivity to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage and landscape" today have evolved positively.

Unfortunately we must take note that in this geographical place things have not changed.

Indeed the settlement confirms that Porto Empedocle, Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples facilities can accommodate highly invasive and dangerous (see Ministry of Interior and recent calls for military escort for LNG carriers advanced by President Lloyd's of London) and, as noted, in the city center a few tens of meters from the houses, a nursery and schools.

In addition, environmental impact and vision would be disastrous and would undermine the development model shared by the leaders of the territory based on the use of productive resources and cultural landscape of the area.

It 's easy to imagine what it would mean a place of worship for what the Valley of the Temples, see the line every day of gas tankers from 350 meters each, placed in front of the district and the towers Torch Chaos about 40 meters in height with a torch that will add to the most serious failures that have plagued the area because of reckless decisions of an unlikely looking industrial development.

About the destinies of the Valley of the Temples and to prevent it from being canceled - because of those choices - by UNESCO sites (as already stated by Prof. Gianni Puglisi with a long letter to the President of the Region Cuffaro) the undersigned organized a discussion meeting with the following theme "Rigassigicatore risk removal from the list of World Heritage List UNESCO" Friday, October 26 at 10.00 am in the room Conference of the Chamber of Commerce of Agrigento.

be very significant to your participation in the event which will reassure the community that the procedure concerning the possible release of the required approvals

give due consideration to environmental protection and preservation of the Valley of the Temples.

Waiting to meet you welcome the opportunity to send my most cordial greetings.
